Jonathan Hirsch "Paintings" at Cous Cous
“My name is Lazer Dragon” by Jonathan Hirsch
I meant to put this up last week, but time got away from me. My good friend Jonathan (or as most of his friends call him, Jon Jon) had an art opening at Cous Cous last Thursday, and we went to check it out. The show is pretty impressive both in size and quality of work, and it runs through the end of the month. The flyer above uses a...

Live At Ipanema presents Homemade Knives →
Every month, the bar I work at (in conjuction with rvanews.com) has a band or solo act come in and play a free show. Last month it was the recently reformed Homemade Knives, and the result was one of the most captivating performances I’ve ever witnessed. I work every Sunday night, which is the night that these performances take place, and this one set the bar really high. Their set consisted...
Time passes, events fall away
It’s Friday, August 6th, more than halfway through 2010, and I’m realizing that not only have I not even tried to make good on my New Year’s resolution, but I also need to update my profile on here to show that I’m not 26 anymore. Where does the time go?
I keep talking about all of these projects I’m planning, and my todo lists keep getting longer. I think it’s...

Aaaaaand I'm back
So it turns out I’m not as proficient at keeping this thing updated as I’d like to be. I’ve had “Update Tumblr” on my todo list every day for the last two weeks though, so it is somewhere in the forefront of my mind, bouncing around with all the projects I’m trying to begin. I don’t have any one thing I wanted to post about, so here’s a small update...

Foreign transmissions pt. 3
Dear readers, let me preface this entry by saying that despite the tone of these excerpts, I wasn’t as miserable during this trip as I make myself out to be. I wasn’t miserable at all, really. I tend to dwell on the more intense aspects of any experience, and I think it’s safe to say that these accounts were written during situations that were less than desirable (in terms of...

Foreign transmissions pt. 2
When I was younger, I used to keep a mental log of moments I would never forget. Things that seemed so relevant, they stood out on their own with no effort on my behalf. I still remember most of them, like how terrified I was the first time I kissed a girl, an awkward exchange with a girl who lived a few doors down from my mother’s town house. Or standing at the top of a hospital parking...

Foreign transmissions pt. 1
So, back in September, the band I play in, Mouthbreather, went on our first ever European tour. We spent five weeks traveling mostly in Germany, but having stops in France, The Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic and more. For some of us, it was the longest trip we’d ever been on, certainly the longest for our band. What follows is the first of the “tour journal” I tried...
I guess I'm Tumbling now.
If my past attempts at blogging (yeah, you had no idea, right?) are any indication of things to come, I’ll be really bad about updating this, and eventually I’ll delete it. In the mean time, I’m going to try my best to stay on task, and share with those of you who might be interested in such things, pictures, projects and writings that I’ve done or am currently working on....
